Care

A chemical reaction (called saponification) takes place during the soap-making process producing soap with about 10% glycerine. Glycerine, a humectant, draws moisture from the air. It is a skin hydrator and an emollient — helping to lock in that moisture. (Since it makes the soap bar softer, factory-made soap usually has it removed.) Follow the simple steps below to extend the life of your soap. With twice-daily use (for example, a morning face wash and a nightly shower), a soap bar should last around one month. Some households may even prefer to have one soap bar per person!

Before use: store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

After use: allow the soap to air dry using a soap drainer. We recommend our soap rack and soap net.

When travelling: slip the soap into a breathable fabric bag (such as our soap sack).

Directions

Rub the soap with warm water to make a lather.✽ Cleanse wet facial skin with the lather, avoiding eye contact. Rinse well. Use the soap directly on your body skin. Rinse well.

Pat skin dry with a clean towel (you may prefer to use facial tissues to dry facial skin).

✽You might like to try a soap net. Pop your soap inside one, rub it with warm water and you’ll discover a quicker way to make lots of lather — which is also very handy for shaving!
